Its no doubt a little old fashioned but I like the calm associated with these boats when compared to the motor boats.Mucherla Aruna was born in Kothagudem of Telangana into a family that belongs to Palakollu, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The house boat ride through Vembanad lake is a must-do. The whole property was so serene and there were smiles all around. The location is fantastic, the food is outstanding and the service is beyond compare! We experienced the famous Taj hospitality in all its glory! It was worth every penny spent! We stayed in a suite which was a traditional kerala style bungalow with outdoor bathrooms with appropriate privacy. We reached there very early but the management very graciously allowed us to occupy our room. Hurriedly I booked a room here as my husband hadn't seen Kumarakom.

I'm writing the review a bit too late but the memory is still so fresh, I guess its because of the lasting impression Taj Kumarakom had on us! It was a last minute decision as we were initially planning to holiday in Dubai and it didn't work out. That's the type of service we experienced during our entire stay, where everyone went above and beyond. One other thing I should mention: I couldn't get my wife's laptop onto the Taj's Wi-Fi network at like 11:30 PM and they had someone come in from the neighboring town to fix the problem, even after I said it wasn't a big deal. My wife had a wonderful birthday, thanks to Jayanta's team, and we both wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this location. The GM, Jayanta Das, showed us some of the villas the following day as we're definitely going back with my family. That being said, everything was very clean. Some of the public spaces, like the pool, looked like they could use a refurbish as well. While the view from our sit out was stunning and the room nicely-appointed, it looked like it could have used a refurbish. Delicious! The only less-than-perfect part of our stay was the room. And the "icing on the cake" was complimentary chocolate cake and ice cream for my wife's birthday. The manager, Prince, stopped by to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The wait staff was very courteous and professional. It was a long dinner since we were savoring everything and ate so much. My wife opted for North Indian and everything was amazing. Also, as a random aside, the freshly-fried pakodas they provide as part of their tea time were delicious. After leading everyone in song for her, they provided cake for all the guests who were on the boat ride with us. After the cruise, when we got back to the jetty, the hotel staff had a birthday cake waiting for my wife. One of our favorite activities while were there was the 5 PM boat ride around the lake. The location is picturesque, fenced in on two sides by an official (and unofficial) bird sanctuary. Every single person we interacted with was so warm and so hospitable. From the time we got there, the service was phenomenal. The hotel definitely lived up to the hype. After a lot of research, decided to go with Vivanta by Taj, in large part due to all the positive TripAdvisor reviews. Planned a getaway to Kumarakom for my wife's birthday.
